Calgary, Family Justice Services: Notice of Recruitment for Service Roster

If you possess superior mediation and conflict resolution skills and have a desire to make a difference in the lives of families in Calgary, Family Justice Services would like to invite you to join our Family Mediation roster. Applications are currently being accepted for Family Mediators to provide contracted mediation services to Family Justice Service’s clients.

Roster mediators provide non-evaluative mediation services on a fee for service basis to clients seeking resolution to their family law matters such as divorce, parenting, guardianship, property division and child support issues. Mediators address safety concerns, assess whether mediation is an appropriate option and assist families in focusing on agreements that are in the best interests of the children involved.

Qualifications: Candidates are required to be registered as a Family Mediator with a professional mediation association within Canada. To qualify, Mediators require a minimum of an undergraduate degree in Social Work, Psychology or Education. Equivalences will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates with a Masters Degree in one of the Social Sciences as well as individuals with knowledge in the area of Family Law and Alberta Children and Youth Services legislation. Candidates will be required to submit three completed family mediation reports. Roster mediators are paid at a rate of $80.00 per hour.

Final candidates will be required to provide a Criminal Record Check as well as proof of professional insurance. Please note that the number of hours of requested service will vary and cannot be guaranteed by Family Justice Services.

Mediation expertise working with cultural minorities including First Nations or mediators fluent in a second language is an asset.
